Research Operations
Thomas Vick started his career at HARC in April of 1985. He has had various positions including Weld and Research Shop Manager, Mechanical Designer, Project Manager, Cad/Design Dept. Supervisor, Fire Warden, High Bay Area Safety Officer, and Fuel Cell Safety Coordinator.
Thomas has eight years of experience in Project Management and twelve years of experience with CAD/Design operations. He has specific experience with design sketches, board drawings, ComputerVision Personal Designer, and AutoCAD r10, 11, 12, 13, 2000, and 2002 Design Programs. Also, three-dimensional modeling and mechanical stress analysis which are generated with Autodesk Inventor 5, Mechanical Desktop r2.2, DesignSpace V2.22, and Visualnastran Desktop 2002. He has performed all of HARC's CAD/Design work for several years.
Thomas has twenty-three years experience in Mechanical assembly. These efforts include sheet metal design, pressure and vacuum weldment enclosures, small mechanism design, fabrication and testing. He has experience in Machine Shop operations with CNC and manual mills, manual lathes, and precision grinding. He has a vast welding knowledge and is certifiable in processes of GTAW (tig), GMAW (mig), SMAW (stick), Brazing, and High and Low temperature Soldiering. A specific specialty is hands-on experience in Layout, Fabrication, and Erection of chilled water, de-ionized water, nitrogen, hydrogen, helium, natural gas and cryogenic liquid piping systems.
