Krist Bender Director

Krist Bender is Director of Information Technology & New Media at the Houston Advanced Research Center where he oversees all IT operations and manages the application of new media both within the organization and for HARC's project partners and stakeholders. Before coming to HARC he was the Chief Technology Officer at the National Council for Science and the Environment in Washington, DC, worked for seven years at Rice University in the Art & Art History Department and as Director of the Data Applications Center (DAC-Net), and had previously owned an art services business specializing in design and fabrication for artists, galleries and museums in Houston, Texas. Mr. Bender has also worked in the chemical and oil field service industries, which included positions Dresser Macobar and Alcoa. He studied biochemistry and chemical engineering at the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie-Mellon University and holds a BA from Shippensburg University where he majored in biology and chemistry.
