Birnur Guven started at HARC as a postdoctoral research scientist in October 2009. Previously, she worked as a research associate at Rice University, an assistant professor of environmental engineering at Michigan State University, and an air quality data analysis intern at Sonoma Technology, Inc.
Guven’s current research focuses on source attribution of air toxics in the Houston area for the Air Quality Group at HARC, and on global gas flaring and venting issues for James Baker Institute for Public Policy at Rice University. She also worked on several air quality research projects prior to joining HARC, and her work has been published in various refereed journals.
Guven received her B.S. in mathematics from Bogazici University in Turkey and her M.S. and Ph.D. in environmental engineering from Rice University.
