Hired in October 2009 as a research associate at HARC, Ross Tomlin’s current project is for the U.S. Department of Energy funded Gulf Coast Clean Energy Application Center promoting clean energy applications (combined heat and power, district energy, and waste heat recovery) through state policy and industry awareness in Texas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma. He interned at HARC in the summer of 2008 serving in the same capacity and co-authored a white paper titled Policy Options for Clean Air and Sustainable Energy in Texas, commissioned by the Texas Business for Clean Air to inform their lobbying efforts for the state’s next legislative session.
Ross received a Masters in Public Affairs at the LBJ School of Public Affairs in May 2009 with a specialization in Natural Resources and the Environment and authored a professional report, Assessing UT-Austin’s Sustainability. Prior to graduating, he interned for State Senator Rodney Ellis at the 81st Texas Legislature and worked exclusively on energy and environmental legislation. Prior to earning his masters, Ross spent three years in public relations at Baylor College of Medicine. He earned his B.A. in liberal arts (Plan II) and studio art at The University of Texas at Austin.
