Andra Wilcox is a Research Assistant at the Houston Advanced Research Center (HARC) working with the Environmentally Friendly Drilling Systems Program. She has a master of science in strategic leadership and is completing an additional Graduate Certificate in Environmental Science from Texas A&M, Commerce. Her previous experience includes solid waste/recycling monitoring, residential and governmental contract compliance, municipal recycling facilities auditing, community outreach, and field/site inspections for the Texas Department of State Health Services.
Since joining HARC, Andra has conducted on site evaluations of drilling operations in diverse ecosystems. She is assisting with the development and amendment of the EFD Scorecard in various phases of oil and gas production. Andra has compiled comparison analyses of best practices of specific EFD sponsor organizations and alliances. Additionally, she is coordinating the development of the EFD ‘Virtual Rig,’ an online interactive workforce development tool based upon gaming technology to provide real time education. She will be assisting with a case study focusing upon the life-cycle of drilling fluids and cuttings waste management and disposal. Andra was recently elected president of a non-profit, volunteer based organization for environmental education, serving approximately 100,000 residents.
