At The Woodlands Earthday 2008 Dr. Rudy Smaling performed a "white glove" test on two CISD (Conroe Independent School District) school buses. Also present were Dr. Don Stockton, Superintendent of CISD, and Sam Davila, Director of Transportation for CISD. Dr Smaling used white gloves to scrub the inside of both the tail pipes of a CISD school bus with a DPF (Diesel particulate filter) and a school bus without one. The results were clear. The white glove inserted into the tail pipe of the retrofit bus had little particulate material and the white glove used on the non-retrofit bus was black with particulate material. CISD is in the process adding additional DPF filters to their bus fleet that will benefit the school children in Montgomery County.
