This project creates a spatial inventory of fire emissions for the period of the Texas Air Quality Study (August 1, 2000 - September 30, 2000). Emissions are reported for wildfires, prescribed burning, slash burning and agricultural field burning. The emission estimation methods are the same as those used by Dennis, et al. (2002) in preparing a previous state-wide inventory of fire related emissions. The inventory resolves the emissions data at spatial and temporal time scales suitable for air quality modeling. The construction of the emissions inventory involves estimating acreage burned, fuel consumption and emission factors. Acreage burned is estimated using information on frequency and extent of various fire events. The data on acreage burned, fuel loadings, and emission factors is assembled into a Geographical Information System (GIS) to facilitate manipulation and display of the data.
