This project develops MM5 meteorological modeling enhancements using the surface temperature tendencies derived from GOES data. Correct modeling of surface temperature and input of heat from the sun into the air is critical to the accurate modeling of wind flow and pollutant dispersion. Incorporation of information from satellite observations significantly improves model performance. This project will have immediate positive impact on the quality of SIP attainment demonstrations.
