The reactive nitrogen budget is critical not only to local chemistry, but to the transport of Nox reservoirs over long distances. This project conducts field measurements of several nitrogen reservoir species important to the nighttime chemistry in HGB area. HONO, HNO3, HO2NO2, and N2O5 are measured using ion-drift chemical ionization mass spectrometry (ID-CIMS).
The measurements of these species provides crucial information for assessment of the nighttime chemistry in the HGB region.
