| Houston Environmental Foresight |
Five reports were issued as part of Houston Environmental Foresight program. The two Phase 1 reports (1995 and 1996) analyzed, described and rated the region's major environmental concerns. The three Phase 2 reports (2000) set forth recommendations for addressing the highest rated concerns.

Seeking Environmental Improvement
The Foresight Committee released Seeking Environmental Improvement in January 1996. A summary of the Committee's findings are accesible by viewing the Houston Region Environmental Ranking. The Houston Chronicle also had an article about the release.
Houston Environment 1995 is a comprehensive look at the Houston environment by many of the region's top scientists and experts assembled as members of the Foresight Science Panel. It is 460 pages long. It contains an introduction and has reports from the Ecosystems, Human Health, and Socioeconomic Subpanels.
Recommendations for Environmental Improvement
Phase 1 of the Foresight program sought to identify the relative importance of the environmental challenges for the Houston region. Phase 2 engaged Working Groups in developing detailed goals and recommendations for addressing these challenges. These were summarized in a series of three reports.

The Houston region is in violation of the federal air quality standard for ozone, and outdoor air quality was rated among the highest concerns. The region faces other air quality problems as well. Indoor air contamination was also rated as one of the highest concerns since people spend most of their time indoors. This report provides goals and recommendations for each of these major concerns.

This report was largely complete, but published only in its digital version due to missing elements, primarily graphics. This does not diminish the importance of the areas addressed in the report and the Working Group contributions on the three areas: Contaminated, Idle and Abandoned Sites; Hazardous Materials and Waste; and Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention.
