CFCRA - Supplemental Projects
Center for Fuel Cell Research and Applications
Supplemental Projects
Supplemental projects are stand-alone, self-funded efforts organized by the Center for the benefit of interested sponsors. Supplemental Projects are typically organized with one to ten participating organizations. They are essentially voluntary teaming arrangements that allow sponsors to pursue additional topics and technologies of interest through joint effort and cost sharing. To further leverage the investments of participating organizations, HARC can seek additional funds from third-party funding agencies, using sponsor contributions to the project as matching funds.

Supplemental Projects extend the activities of the CFCRA beyond the scope of the program's core activities. Supplemental Projects are ideally structured to study, address, or overcome existing barriers to the commercialization of fuel cells and other hydrogen economy technologies. Consistent with HARC's mission and expertise, Supplemental Projects should be geared toward facilitating and enhancing market entry for near-commercial technologies. Common program types include:
  • Equipment Evaluations
  • Technology Demonstration Projects
  • Technology Development Projects
  • Feasibility Studies
  • Policy, Economic, & Market Studies
Supplemental Projects are offered to sponsors as a value-added feature of the CFCRA Core Program. Consequently, participation in any Supplemental Project is completely voluntary. Substantial flexibility exists to design Supplemental Programs to achieve specific business objectives. HARC's experience organizing and managing multi-sponsor research projects, combined with our university and industry ties, ensures that an effective program can be to meet the specific needs of individual sponsors.
